Q: Why should I use PLS over another company?

A: Since 1997, we’ve been the most trusted and respected licensing company in the nation. We don’t insult our clients with misleading cheap prices; we offer the best value and deliver on our promises.

With PLS:

  • You will receive your application more quickly than you would using any other service
  • The verification process is started immediately; we don’t wait until we receive your signed application
  • There is no additional charge to process an FCVS application (if ordered with your license)
  • Communication is proactive.  You are kept informed regularly and intuitively
  • You work with a company with the most experience and a proven system which streamlines the process by using the latest technology & innovation
  • You always get personalized, complete service from the consummate licensing specialists.

We also offer the additional advantage of “inside information” resulting from our expertise and collegial relationships with the medical boards and other facilities. We employ a full-time CIA (Central Information Analyst) whose sole responsibility is to communicate regularly with the boards and keep us current & proactive. Q: What are the benefits of using your service over the DIY approach?

A: By turning the licensure process over to us, you can focus on your job. You could act as your own tax accountant, auto mechanic, loan officer, or medical licensing specialist; or have the experts do it for you. In our 14th year of serving physicians, hospitals, recruiters, and medical groups, we have found that our clients would rather hire the experts to handle the logistics so that they can focus on more important things, like practicing medicine without the interference or frustration associated with licensing.

Here are some of the distractions you can expect to experience in applying for licensure on your own:

  • Researching state rules, eligibility requirements, and licensure process
  • Completing lengthy & complex applications
  • Time-consuming requesting of verifications including Med Ed, PGY, Exams, Licenses, Hospital Privileges, Employment, Board Certification, References, & other queries
  • Following up repeatedly with boards & all verification entities
  • Re-submitting application materials, adjustments, & explanations

Our competitive service fee is worth the investment. We also offer the additional advantage of “inside information” resulting from our expertise and collegial relationships with the medical boards and other facilities. We employ a full-time CIA (Central Information Analyst) whose sole responsibility is to communicate regularly with the boards and keep us current & proactive. Because of these professional relationships our staff has earned through being concise, meticulous, and courteous with the medical boards, our files have been known to illicit preferential review, resulting in quicker issuance of your license.

Q: What is my involvement with the process?

A: Supply us with your current CV and our signed Client Service Agreement. After a brief consultation (phone or email), we’ll accurately and thoroughly complete the application and send it to you for your review and signature. While the application is progressing on its path, we’ll request and follow up on all necessary verifications and will coordinate with the Board to make sure your file is being completed promptly and meticulously.  So you will submit your order, hold a brief consultation with us, and review the completed application.  We do the rest.

Q: How does your service work?

A: We just need your current CV & signed Client Service Agreement to begin. You will immediately be assigned one of our specialized consultants who will be your point of contact throughout the process to licensure. Within 2 business days, your consultant will complete all necessary research & have your completed application to you via email or express shipment for your review & signature. In the meantime, he/she will request all required verifications & follow up to ensure receipt and completion. Your consultant will continue to follow up with the medical board and all entities to ensure expediency & accuracy until your license is issued, keeping you informed along the way.

Q: What factors into the length of time it takes to get licensed?

A: The state you are applying for and the number of applications that Board is processing at the time you apply bears the most weight when considering processing time.  New Jersey, California, & Texas have consistently taken longer than other states – but it doesn’t have to be that way – ask us why.  Your personal & work history can also factor into the timeline by requiring additional verifications and explanations to various Board inquiries.  Other factors include Board reviews of irregularities such as gaps in practice, disciplinary, or malpractice history.

Q: Is my information safe?

A: Yes. We take your privacy seriously and adhere to every ethical measure to ensure your security & confidentiality. Your information is stored behind 128-bit encryption and will never be sold for any 3rd party marketing purpose.

Q: Do you assist with licensure in all 50 states?

A: Yes. We provide services for all 50 states, DC, and U.S. protectorates

Q: Are there additional fees to your service?

A: We charge a flat fee for our licensing service, not attorney-like billing. Like all licensing companies, we require our clients to pay for the direct expenses associated with the application such as the Board’s application fee, verifications, shipping, etc. These are charges that the applicant is responsible for regardless of which company they use to apply for their license. Beware of any licensing company who continues to charge for “billable time” or offers an almost too-good-to-be-true price for their service; the service you receive will always be compromised. As always, we never charge extra to process an FCVS application for you if ordered with the licensure process. Unlike other licensing companies, it’s just part of our service.

Q: What is the FCVS?

A: The Federation Credentials Verification Service is a service of the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) and was established in 1996 to provide a centralized process for medical boards to obtain a verified, primary source record of an applicant’s core credentials. The FCVS gathers, verifies, and stores the physician’s core credentials in a central repository at FSMB. Primary source verification includes medical education, PGY, exam scores, board certification, applicant identity, & board action history.
The FCVS does NOT obtain or verify Hospital Privileges, Employment History, License verifications, References, AMA profiles, NDPB & other queries, Insurance, Disciplinary or Malpractice History.

Q: When to use the FCVS and when NOT to use it?

A: Use the FCVS for states in which it is required. (LINK to “Resources”):  Click here for a complete list.
If you are a Foreign Medical Graduate and obtaining verification from your medical school proves difficult, having your medical education verified in a lifetime repository is highly beneficial. Submitting a new application to the FCVS or requesting a subsequent profile (once you have a profile established) can take less time than acquiring the verification from your school on your own. Although there will be additional application fees charged by the FCVS, we do not charge an extra fee to complete & follow up on the FCVS application for you as long as it coincides with an existing license order, regardless of whether FCVS is required by the state in question.

Keep in mind that the FCVS process can add extra time to your licensure process. There are also extra application or subsequent profile fees that the FCVS charges. On occasion, the FCVS must re-verify credentials, adding even more time to the process. And, remember that the FCVS does not verify many of the credentials required by medical boards to complete the licensure process. Generally, if you are a US or Canadian trained physician and the state in which you seek licensure does not require the FCVS, save yourself the time & money by excluding this extra step from the process.
